From mid March the warm sunny days and cool nights have lended itself to excellent fruit ripening conditions and the winery has been a hive of activity as parcels of fruit arrive for crushing.

There have been some amazing ferments bubbling away and is really something to get excited about when the air is filled with the smells of rich fruit and yeast!

We are now in the first week of April and vintage is slowly drawing to a close as the last of the Mataro fruit comes in. The Schiller Shiraz has been basket pressed and the Nitschke Block Shiraz will be pressed during the next couple of days, then into wood for further maturation.

I must admit after such a hectic couple of months, I am looking forward to taking a break and spending some time with my family.
