Six Nations Wine Challenge

I was pretty excited to get the news a few weeks back that the 2017 Meta Mataro had been awarded the Trophy in the Best Other Reds – Full Bodied Category of the Six Nations Wine Challenge.

The 2017 Meta Mataro was chosen by Australian wine reviewer Huon Hooke to be one of the 100 wines representing Australia alongside wines from  New Zealand, South Africa, America, Canada and Chile.

At the Good Food and Wine Shows over the past couple of years, the Meta Mataro has continued to be a popular choice with consumers, even though many of them have never tried it. It’s a variety that grows well in the Barossa and we lay claim to having the oldest Mataro (often called Mourvèdre or Monastrell) vines in the world.

As well as the Meta Mataro, my Rosé is usually about 50 per cent Mataro, and it’s also the M in the GSM blend.

I have a limited amount of the 2017 Meta Mataro left, so if you’d like to try it for yourself, head to the shop and I’ll get it sent out to you.  Use the code MATARO and I’ll even throw in free shipping (valid until 9 November 2018).
