Once in a while, a parcel of wine stands out. When I tasted my 2016 wines, it was clear that this Shiraz from Ken Loveday’s Moppa vineyard is one of those wines. It is an exceptional barrel of Barossa Shiraz that deserves to stand alone as my first single barrel release – Jason Schwarz
97 POINTS - 2020 Halliday Wine Companion – James Halliday - 2/19/2022
This Shiraz, from 400 vines planted in 1881 is Barossa history in a bottle. Hand-picked from the vineyard still managed by the sixth generation of the Schiller family, only 1,398 bottles have been produced.
First vintage produced was in 2008 by Jason. If you are looking for a back vintage to celebrate a special occasion or milestone send us an email, and we will see if we have that vintage available!
93 POINTS - James Suckling
Mataro sourced from the parishes of Moppa, Vine Vale and Bethany, 17% whole bunches, pressed to tank until blending and bottling, unfined and unfiltered.

The Nitschke Road Shiraz block was planted by my mother and father in 1968 in Bethany near the base of the Eastern Barossa Range. The vineyard is still pruned and picked by hand and the soils of loam over brown and red clays results in a wine of considerable concentration and drive.
Rich, opulent fruit is the reoccurring theme with this vineyard and it always seems to show great balance and texture year in, year out.
The Nitschke Block Shiraz was the first wine made by Jason Schwarz back in 2001.
Sourced from vineyards in the Eden Valley region.
A tight intense palate showing showing notes of fresh cut lime & grapefruit.
Full of energy and elegance, hard to sip easy to guzzle.
A delicious mouth watering classic.
Our newest addition to The Grower Range
Medium crimson. Intense dark cherry, mulberry, strawberry liquorice aromas with graphite notes. Smooth and richly flavoured with mulberry strawberry, dark cherry fruits, fine lacy tannins and underlying savoury notes. Finished pepper and long.
The Vintage Journal Barossa Guide 2023 by Andrew Caillard MW and Angus Hughson
Wonderfully complex and engaging, the bouquet shows dark berry, bay leaf, cured meat and toasted almond notes, leading to a gorgeously supple palate that's expansive and persistent. Well supported by refined texture and fine-grained tannins, finishing long and structured. * Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, January 2023 *
95 Points - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
The Meta Shiraz fruit is carefully selected from a few vineyards with rocky or hard growing soils. This gives the fruit (and therefore the wine) a brighter, blue fruited and more tightly tannic style.
Growers: this vintage is sourced from ten different growers, across seven sub-regions in the Barossa.
94 POINTS - The Vintage Journal Summer Wine Guide 2023
Medium deep crimson, intense blackberry, musky plum hint strawberry aromas with charcuterie notes. Seductive plate with fresh buoyant dark berry meaty flavours, chocolaty textures, lovely Mid-palate richness and acid line. Lovely fruit complexity, richness flavour and structure.
93 POINTS - The Vintage Journal Summer Wine Guide 2023
Blueberry compote, iodine, charcuterie, tapenade and a slick of licorice. A taut, peppery furl across the juicy finish, lathered with refined chalky tannins.
93 POINTS - The Vintage Journal Summer Wine Guide 2023

94 POINTS - Andrew Caillard MW - The Vintage Journal Summer Wine Guide 2023
Fragrant bursts of apple, pears and hints of citrus. Smooth, crisp yet a creamy twist on the palate. Fresh, fruity, and balanced.
92 POINTS - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
New vintage released - 24th of April 2024
The 2023 Rosé gives the first impression of fruit sweetness and while it shows amazing fruit generosity it is unquestionably dry.

The family Grenache block on Thiele Road in Bethany remains one of Jason’s favourite blocks. The first vintage of the Thiele Road Grenache was made by Jason Schwarz in 2002 and celebrates his love of this diverse variety. The gnarled, old vines were planted in 1941 and they produce fantastic fruit.

Nitschke Block Shiraz holds a unique place in the family's heart, as it was planted in 1968—the same year Jason's parents were married. This special wine captures the essence of the family's history and legacy, with its rich and well-structured character. A subtle elegance intertwines with elements of old and new oak, creating a remarkable drinking experience that speaks to the craft of Jason's winemaking journey.

Discover Grenache - Barossa Grown
Grenache is truly the underappreciated, if not undiscovered, the jewel in the crown of the Barossa. The Barossa is Australia’s premier wine region and has been for more than 170 years. Grenache was one of the founding red grape varieties for this legacy. For such a long period, Grenache has been the work horse of the Valley and the foundation variety for the region’s world-renowned fortifieds. The chief victim of the government-sponsored vine pull of the 1980s which decimated many old vineyards, Grenache became the key variable in the rebirth of dry reds, the now-famous GSMs, before being overrun by Shiraz once more led by global export markets. But it is the tenacious old growers who need to be thanked for maintaining the faith and keeping so many of these precious old vines in the ground.
A stunning 192-page hardcover coffee table book produced by Bud Media that shares the stories of over 65 of the Barossa’s most enlightening winemakers, grape growers, and cellar doors.
This premium book uncovers the hidden stories of these amazing wine businesses.
