This is the kind of wine that you have a pretty good feeling you’ll love, as soon as you twist open the screw cap. It filled the room with beautiful aromas of confectionery, raspberry, strawberry, red cherry, spice and violets (plus a touch of gaminess), with a colour that screamed youthful energy (something I needed after a long day of work).

After a bit of air, some black pepper and darker cherry tones appear. The palate is oh-so-bright and cheerful, with a silky feel. It holds up incredibly well on the second night, hiding its 14.2% alcohol really well, and still has a lot of life left in it.

More Information

Brightness plus though has some flesh on its bones, leaps out the glass with roasted beetroot, blood plums, cherries, and a charcuterie/dried meats note. The well-poised palate offers up cola, turned earth, dried orange, cherries and a shake of baking spice. Tannins are fine and have a succulence, a lovely red of mid weight and broad appeal.

A number of Barossa producers rely on their relationships with growers throughout the district to deliver quality wines and this Grenache from Schwarz pays homage to that. Incredibly smashable, this Growers Grenache doesn't need to be dressed up to be enjoyed. Catapult this at the humble sausage sizzle and you're set. Sleek and silky fruit, blue and purple berries reign supreme with a fine sheet of spice on close. Not overly complex or deep, this slides into the pleasure zone with ease and draws you into its vortex with its seductive fine spices as only quality Grenache knows how.
