More Information

Deep garnet in the glass.  A vibrant note of blackberries against smoked/cured charcuterie meats and a pinch of baking spices.  A fruity yet savoury interplay in the mouth, balancing blackberry jam, blueberries and blood plum against olive tapenade, bacon fat, more charcuterie and a slight saltiness.  Plenty of concentration of flavour here but without thickness or excessive weight, finishing with fine and fresh tannins.

This is a particularly good mataro. It is because it’s fresh and floral and generally complex, and while it has plenty of mid weight flavour it never feels heavy or in any way overdone. That’s a very good thing. It tastes of red and black berries, orange rind, rose petals, rust and sweet roasted spices, with blood orange notes helping to give it an exotic feel. It’s excellent. It’s dry through the finish and generally well finessed, in a fully satisfying way.
