Bright medium lemon colour, Expressive nose, Medium bodied in style with power and length, lingering phenolic weight.

A new wine in the Schwarz lineup, a single-barrel selection of the best shiraz of the vintage, and '21 is certainly a cracking year to begin with. Deep macerated satsuma plum and blackberry fruit are cut with hints of baking spice, brandied fruits, licorice, dark chocolate, earth, panforte, espresso and oak spice. Impressive depth, fruit weight and velvety flow across the palate, with thick, powdery tannins in support. It has no lack of power and heft but still retains a sense of energy and freshness. A great inaugural release in the classic Barossa style.

This wine beautifully combines power and elegance. It offers aromas of blackberry, cake spice, cured meat, dark cocoa, and cedar. On the palate, it is wonderfully concentrated, providing excellent weight and a silky flow, all supported by layers of velvety tannins. The finish is impressively long and satisfying. Bright and fresh, preserved lemon peel, youthful energy, moorish acidity, long flavours and some good phenolic grip. Pale lemon green hue. Captures quartzy mineral textures. Clean and taut.

Stick your nose in the glass here, and could it be anything else but Barossan? Circa 1880s-planted vines too, no less. Deep, plummy fruit tones with hints of dark chocolate, fruitcake spice, a wash of oak, sour cherry, blackberry conserve, licorice and earth. Full bodied and packed with powdery tannin before a chocolatey, spicy finish that has a slow fade.

The third release of The Grower Shiraz from Schwarz Wine Company. A vivid crimson-magenta hue hints at the purity in the glass. Lifted scents of red cherry, juicy satsuma plum and blueberry are laced with hints of ginger spice, cola, charcuterie, violets and a whisper of earthy loam. The palate follows on with a subtle mocha thread, spicy, plummy fruits, fine, sandy tannins and a swell of spice and earth on the finish. Great value.

As with the previous vintage, the blend here is 70% Grenache and 30% Mataro. This is a cracking Rose. A pale orange hue, the nose reveals notes of florals, rose petals, redcurrants and strawberries. A fresh and most appealing nose. There is a clean, dry finish here, though the exuberance of the flavours offers delicious fruit sweetness impressions on the palate. There is juicy acidity here, with good persistence and a lingering finish. For enjoying over the next couple of years. The quality of Aussie Rose has skyrocketed over the last decade or so and this is yet another fine example.

Richly fruited and enticing, the wine shows dark fruit intensity, warm spice, rich floral, and toasty oak aromas on the nose. The palate is wonderfully weighted and opulent, packed with delectable flavours, leading to a persistent, structured finish. Gorgeously styled and expressed with seductive complexity. Sweetly ripe and fragrant, the bouquet shows dark plum, blackberry, smoked game, and floral aromas with a hint of dark chocolate. It’s equally appealing in the mouth, offering succulent fruit intensity backed by silky texture and elegant tannins, finishing long and flavoursome. At its best: now to 2033.
